The Self Help Tool No one should be without

“I write this entry because today I woke up with my mind racing with things to say to this person I have been coaching. There were moments where I felt helpless, thinking of the self defeating pace they have set for themselves in healing and the journey towards fulfilling their dream. I see more, a lot more, that this person will accomplish when we are done.”

“So here’s me, writing about THE Self help tool that none of you should be without. Why? Because you have a uniqueness about you. SOMEONE needs you to excel in that uniqueness because they need YOUR help. And a lot you aren’t being your best because of a whole lot of things that are holding you back.”

                                                                    ***

What many of us are aware of but don’t fully understand is the Power of Guidance. Growing up we aren’t really encouraged to actively seek mentors. The closest we unknowingly got to a ‘mentor’ was someone within the family. A parent, sibling, grandparent or maybe a successful aunt or uncle…

There is tremendous value in having a third party who is vested in your success.

Some of you might have experienced it as:
  1. The workflow analyst friend that helped you make your reports efficient
  2. That one teacher at school who gave you additional books to read
  3. The graphic designer that provided inputs for your brand logo and website design
  4. The friend with three children that answers ALL your questions when you have your first child
  5. The neighbor in the new city that gives to list of shops and places to go, to help you set up
  6. The established company owner that provides you a prioritized list of actions when you decide to start your own business

If you start to think about it, all of us, at some point have felt the upliftment and relief such ‘mentoring’ can bring. Yet, we don’t have such an arrangement permanently on speed dial.

Why do we shy away from getting help? Why do we stand on the outside and watch others do better?

I can tell you its not the lack time nor is it money. Although many people have that as a superficial excuse. I mean don’t we all MAKE time and FIND the money for things that we want? Yes! We do.

It’s actually the FEAR of what such support and upliftment might mean for a person.

Fear? Really?! Of What?

Well… Fear of
  • facing the tough, uncomfortable questions that you’d rather avoid
  • letting go of your comfort zone, give up the routine for real
  • how you will be judged by others when you attempt the change
  • not being qualified or skilled enough
  • being rejected by others
  • Or worst still, fear of failing at it

The irony of it all is that, all of these fears will be negated and managed when you get into a supportive partnership. It’s one of those things that you have to personally experience to really get your head around the relief, the impact and the joy that it brings.

The Self Help Tool that none of us should be without is a mentor, a coach, an accountability partner...

Find someone who gets to the heart of what you are thinking and feeling. Next, connect with them, hire them, ask for help and utilize their skills to uplift yours.

When you do, it will be MORE than worth the time and money that you spend with them.

Want to be Truly Happy? Use this Verb Each Day.

We are all chasing happiness, joy, bliss. We are in a constant pursuit of this seemingly elusive and temporary state. Our ritual of daily self evaluation lets us know if are happy or not based on a whole bunch of parameters – some self imposed - some external impositions.

So here’s a quick reminder of ‘the state of you’.

You are a Human Being.

OK fine, we know but what does that have to do with anything?

Well, the answer to true happiness is right there in the name. Human ‘BEING’. We are the verb and not the noun.

We are still in motion. We are still becoming. We aren’t finished products. We are still in a state of BEING. We will never be a finished outcome, we will continue to evolve.

Release yourself from the guilt and pressure of not being enough, of not doing enough, of not feeling enough.

Celebrate the VERB that is you.
Relax.
Know that there is always time. Nothing is final, nothing is lost. This moment is completely in your control to be any experience you wish.

So,
What are you 'becoming' today?
What do you want to 'become' now?
What would your 'becoming' trajectory look like?
