Bad Ideas, Procrastinating, and Fear.

24/4/2016

The three things that people attempt to avoid.

  • Have you judged someone for trying something new that didn’t turn out well? Or maybe you didn’t speak your mind at a meeting because you didn’t want to be the one to contribute a 'bad' idea.
  • Are you tough on yourself or others for putting off a task that eventually needs to be done?
  • What about not committing to doing something because of the fear of failing?

What if I told you that bad ideas, procrastinating and fear have been a part of the life experience of every person who came up with a game changer?

From Beethoven to Elon Musk to Edison

Would that make a difference?

Da Vinci's most recognizable painting. It took him 4 years to paint and many more before he was happy with the end result.

  • Every gamer changer contemplated hundreds of ideas, combinations and versions before they got it right and changed it all.
  • For them, delaying task completion till inspiration struck, resulted in many original ideas.
  • The number one regret people have about their lives, is that they didn't try different things, explore more and say what they really wanted. Game changers knew they would regret not trying and so they did.

So, here's a reminder to stop beating yourself (and others) down.

Try things that you want to, go with the feel good and embrace failure.

That, my friend, will lead you to a fulfilling life experience. And who knows, you may just be the next gamer changer!

Replicate the Harvard mentality!

I was listening to a TED talk about a Harvard study of two groups of people whose lives were tracked for 75 years. The first group were sophomores at Harvard and second group were boys from Boston’s poorest neighborhoods. Year after year the researchers surveyed the groups.

Over the course of the study, the inner city Boston group often told the researchers, “Why do you keep wanting to study me? My life just isn’t that interesting.” And apparently, the Harvard men never asked that question.

Both the groups had a mixed bag of folks that made something of themselves, got married, didn’t get married, some of them developed addictions, some didn’t, some got rich, some lost their fortune…

Although all of them journeyed life as it played out, I was intrigued by the stark difference between the thinking of the two groups on how ‘interesting’ their life would be to someone else.

Here is what I think happened:

 A) One group had a different perspective about their worth and contributions, and it was probably why they never questioned other people being interested in their life.

B) The confidence of the said group was probably supported and sustained by the surrounding people and the environment.

The discussion about 'perspective' comes up in many of my conversations, it’s everything. And I have written about the importance of getting support.

Both of the components, perspective, and support, play such a big role in how we move through life. It can mean the difference between being valued and feeling like you don’t matter. With the Heart Core Habits group, we address this gap and instill these essential components in our everyday life.

To put this simply, the amount of support you receive on a daily basis and the perspective you have about your situation directly relates to how much you get done and how satisfied and accomplished you feel.

Written with Love.

Heart Core Habits

Deliberate creators know that feelings are the real indicators of what we are creating and drawing into our experience. Feelings lead to thoughts and actions that form our behaviors. Behavior repetitions cultivate habits.

For decades, neuroscientists have been unraveling the inner workings of the mind, how thoughts impact the choices we make and as a result the experiences we have.

We are now in a unique position to use all this information and knowledge to serve us better. We know we can change our lives by developing new habits, it's ours for the taking! And the core of developing or changing habits is being mindful of our thoughts and feelings.

“Heart Core Habits” is a philosophy about building self-serving habits centered on improving how we feel. Habits that feel good to us, or the ones we make a ‘heart connection’ with, develop easily and serve us better.

The “Heart Core Habits” are online sessions created with one goal in mind, to have coaching tools and support available for you to mindfully build self-serving habits. AND, this has been made easy, fun, and affordable!

The key is being focused and mindful for the entire month and to surround yourself with a supportive group of people who get you and support your end goal.

What you will get with the 'Heart Core Habits' sessions:

  1. You will select one habit, feeling, or thought that you would like to change, align to or develop.
  2. Each person participating will get personal coaching time with me, where we will set our intentions and talk about tools that will help.
  3. You  will be a part of a secret facebook group, where we will be in touch daily, sharing our progress, asking questions, getting support – all in the pursuit of the new habit.
  4. We will follow with weekly Q&A calls, which will be open for discussions and sharing our successes. (The recorded calls will be available for those who can't make the Live call)

I designed this session format to make myself more accessible to folks committed to doing their best but felt they needed something that is within their reach, financially.

I am super serious about the affordability, it's $24 for the coaching and month long support.

Each group will be 10 people strong. Yes, 10, purposely kept small to ensure the group benefits from one another and my individual attention.

I do look forward to you joining me in this journey. Grab your spot and let's start building anew!

Circulate and share with those you think may benefit or be interested.

With Love!
