This is the last of the series of emails that aim at bringing you on a journey with me to level up our skills, confidence, performance, and happiness.
                                                            *****
Here is the series thus far: The unnecessary habit of Self Sabotage, Intention In a New Identity and Gratitude, WOW's, OOh's & OMG's of 2017.
This week we are going to reflect on our transformations that are associated with the biggest event or life change we've experienced in 2017.

As part of the human experience, we are in a constant state of change. We are alive, we keep soaking up information, we keep trying, we make mistakes, we succeed at some, we fail at some, we cause hurt, and we get hurt.

This ever continuous cycle, knowingly or unknowingly, causes a shift within us. It pushes our evolution, it changes who we are, permanently.

Here's what you need to do for the challenge:

  • Think about an event or situation that you've experienced in 2017. It could be a change that was planned or it could be something that 'happened to you'
  • Next, write down how this life event has changed you:
    • What behaviors have altered as a result?
    • What did you learn about yourself?
    • What new skill or thought or feeling did you pick up, that will come handy?
    • What about relationships? Did this event throw light on new relationships? or maybe cement old ones?
(Here's a brief example of my biggest life change for 2017)
Picture
Life Change: Living With an Animal, in my case a Dog (Seek)!

Transformations and Lessons: Here are a few on my list that living with a Seek has changed in me.
  • There is always time for laughter and goofing around.
  • All you ever need is to be around people who love you, no material things can replace that experience
  • Let go, hold no grudges, even when something/someone hurts you, disappoints you, abandons you.
  • Don't be anything that's not true to you just to please someone (Seek doesn't like to cuddle and I crave it),
  • Compassion for animals, seeing firsthand their feelings, their sense of awareness. There are things I will never participate in again - zoos, circus, elephant/ camel/horse rides, animal shows on the street, paying to 'hold' exotic animals on vacations, buying dogs (puppies), etc
It's the Time for the Little Wins!

The little win this week is all about noticing how much you have evolved and grown as a result of this life experience.

What may not have looked like an opportunity is, in fact, a priceless offering from the universe.

Acknowledging The Scared Lessons Learned. That's what we are after.

Just For the week:
So just for this week, your mission, is to complete the challenge of reflecting on that one big life changing event for 2017 and acknowledging how it has transformed you.

Just this week. For six more days.

During the week, make of note of how you are using your new found transformation to your advantage?

That's it. Write down what you saw unfold during the day.

                                                              ******
I hope you have fun with this assignment this week and you get to experience the little wins!

We continue with the series of emails that aim at bringing you on a journey with me to level up our skills, confidence, performance and happiness.
*****
Thus far we are on a roll! We've done The unnecessary habit of Self Sabotage, Intention In a New Identity and this week we are spending time in gratitude.
Any practice to upskill is not complete till we spend time in gratitude and appreciation. Top studies have now linked gratitude with health, happiness and overall improved quality of life in people who regularly practice it.
Some of the proven benefits include:
  • Physical health, lesser aches, pains and migraines
  • Improved quality of sleep leading to a more rested and refreshed individual
  • Increased self-confidence and self-esteem allowing for better successes at work undertaken
  • Increased resilience, lesser likely to be impacted by trauma, lesser stress levels
On a simpler level, spending time in gratitude becomes important because there is so much going on that we miss most of what happens in our life. Miracles and good news don't register. We miss out on relishing and feeling out the everyday things that are working on our behalf.

The flowers keep dropping into our laps but alas we don't look at our ourselves to see how full and abundant we are!

It's SO easy to stay in a problem-solving mode and forget to pick up on the cool stuff that's manifesting around us all the time.

So join me this week for a really cool activity. I've been doing versions of this for some years now but this exact format was put together in 2016 and I've loved the process.

Here's what you need to do for the challenge:
  • On the first sheet of paper, put the heading, '100 Reasons Why 2017 Rocked' and go on to write down 100 experiences you had that are reasons to celebrate. No reason is too big or small, this is something that YOU were impacted by and it is something that matters to YOU.

  • On the second sheet of paper, we are going to think of the energy and situations that are GOING to manifest in 2018.
    • On the top half of the sheet, identify areas of your life that matter (Home, Relationships, Work, Health, etc). Under each of these, write down a few things that are going manifest or things that you'd like to see happen.
    • On the bottom half of the same sheet, write down words that describe the energy that will surround you or the energy that you are wanting to be all year around.
(Here's a photo of my sheets. For the words, I had asked others to contribute on my social media. Ill use these, in addition, to some of what I want)

It's the Time for the Little Wins!

The little win is all about noticing all the things that have already show up for us. Taking a moment to spend time with the wins, allowing ourselves to be uplifted by their energy.

What you will notice is that as we make space and time for appreciation our energy starts to mirror the mindset of happiness, joy, appreciation. Thus creating more of the same!

Downstream effortless flow. That's what we are after.

Just For the week:
It's Monday and we have six days to go. So just for this week, your mission, is to complete the challenge of listing out 100 reasons why you ROCKED 2017. And think through the energy you intend to be in 2018.

Just this week. For six more days.

During the week, make of note of what this gratitude exercise did for your overall attitude. Any changes in the quality of sleep, stress levels, confidence?

That's it. Write down what you saw unfold during the day.

                                                              ******
I hope you have fun with this assignment this week and you get to experience the little wins! I am going to send you something next week, which will further our levelling up exercise.

Yes, you can share with me what you have identified, follow up questions and of course your little wins too! Written with Love

Intention In A New Identity

We continue with the series of emails that aim at bringing you on a journey with me to level up our skills, confidence, performance and happiness.
                                                                 *****
Last week we did The unnecessary habit of Self Sabotage. This week we are looking at how to Intention In a New Identity.

Self Identity, the what and who we 'think' we are, is a HUGE player in not only what we manifest but also how we interact with the manifestations.

Most of us have an idea of what we'd like to become, what we hope to manifest into.

But I think we fall short for mainly two reasons: One, we do little to nothing to inch towards what we'd like to become and stay in the old patterns that got us there. And two, we might be all over the place with our thoughts and have too many conflicting realities that we try to focus on.

For the first pitfall, we have the Self Sabotage challenge to help us break out of self-defeating actions.

For the second, we are going to spend this week getting clarity on the 'Identity' we are wanting to be and amping up the energy associated with it.

Here's what you need to do for the challenge:

  • First, identify the various areas of your life, think of these as various compartments that may up the persona that is YOU. List these out.

  • Next, identify two areas that you want to create deliberate intention. These should be two that feel like a priority or ones that give you most fulfilment. List these out.

  • Now for each identified area, write down details of the manifested reality, what does it look like, what would happen, what would show up, how would you show up in this reality. Write till it's inspired writing and feels good. Write as much or as little, the key is feeling good while describing it.

  • Once you have completed the written part of this challenge, spend 5-10 mins each day playing out the details in your head. Visualize certain details, think about how it will make you feel, feel those feelings completely, ask yourself what would you do if it were true, is any part of that an action you can do now and then do that now.

It's the Time for the Little Wins!

The little win is all about narrowing the focus to two areas of our lives where we want to attract change. Why only two?

Because we don't want to repeat the pattern of taking on too much and being all over the place. We tackle two, make a shift, then take on two more... Chip away at the mountain. This is a surer way to achieve success in levelling up the energy work.

Clarity and Amping up our Energy. That's what we are after.

Just For the week:
It's Monday and we have six days to go. So just for this week, your mission, is to spend 5-10 minutes each day visualizing the new identity, the reality that will manifest and the emotions that you'd have if that new identity were true.

Just this week. For six more days.

During the week, make a note of any inspired action you took or any good thing that happened as a result of the visualization.

That's it. Write down what you saw unfold during the day as you visualized your intentions.

Self Sabotage, The Unnecessary Habit

4/12/2017

Picture
Over the next few weeks, a series of emails aims at bringing you on a journey with me to level up our skills, confidence, performance and happiness.

This week is we looking at The unnecessary habit of Self Sabotage.

This one is such a common habit that most people may not even realize that they are stuck in a pattern that won't allow them to be successful or happy!

Take this short quiz to find out if you fall under the umbrella of a Self Saboteur.
  • Your thoughts are ruled by fear and anxiety of what could go wrong
  • You delay actions until the last minute and find yourself chasing deadlines
  • You have a crippling experience each time you have to choose between two important decisions
  • You constantly make plans and never follow through
  • You have insomnia especially when you have to do something very important the next day
  • You constantly talk down to yourself, criticize your skills in front of others and wallow in self-pity
  • You feel like a fraud like you don't deserve your wins
  • You feel inadequate as a person, a parent, a child, a sibling, a partner... (fill in the blank)
  • You have exit plans and excuses ready for the possible 'failures' you think are coming

How many of these behaviours (or variations) do you currently do? Answer truthfully, this is an important step.

Are you a Self-Saboteur? Choose one.

Yes / No / Room for Improvement

If it's a No, then woohoo and congratulations on doing a fabulous job at keeping your focus on living life as it comes. At being all that you can be, at showing up and trying each day and allowing yourself the chance to make a difference! You are my hero! (You can stop reading now, until the next email! :) )

For the rest of us who fall under this wide umbrella of self-sabotage, we tend to be quite aware that we are getting in our way. In that moment, we know these actions are going to bring us the same outcome but we do it anyway.

It's easier to follow the known pattern of failure, blame and self-pity than to travel the world of the unknown route of getting what we want.

Imagine actually getting that contract, or having a full workshop sign up, or a book deal, or losing that weight, getting a business loan, getting the promotion to run the department...

It can be a daunting thought, with a lot of potential unknowns, and a lot of people watching if you fail or succeed. Too much work, too much pressure, too much of a limelight...!

It is this crossroad that sends most of us into the Self Sabotage mode.

So, you and me, we are going to break this cycle.

Why?

Because, life is short, your talents and skills are unique and someone needs you to show up at your best.

It's the Time for the Little Wins!

The next step for you would be to identify your top self-sabotage action. The one habit that you know is not serving you, that you do almost on a daily basis and the one that you scold yourself about.

Got it? Good!

Just For the week:
It's Monday and we have six days to go. So just for this week, your mission, nay, promise, is to not indulge in the action/habit you have identified.

Just this week. For six more days.

During the week, make a note of what happened when you didn't follow through with the Self-Sabotaging action.

That's it. Write down what you saw unfold when you didn't do what you normally do.
