Importance of Personal Boundaries - 4 tips to get you started!

I think of Personal Boundaries as invisible lines around me. Personal boundaries are Physical, Emotional and Mental limits that you set for others. 

How to spot Unhealthy boundaries - Ask yourselves these questions :

- Do you go against your core values to please others?
- Do you stay silent when treated poorly?
- Do you find that people around you regularly give you inputs which don't make you feel so good?
- Do you lower or change your expectations just to make the other person 'stay' with you?
- In your relationships, do you find yourself feeling manipulated, taken for granted or violated?

If the answers to these questions is Yes for the most part, there is good chance that you have either lowered your personal boundaries or have not communicated them to the person in question.

In my line of work, I come across a lot of people who don't even realize that this is happening to them. They are trying to manifest abundance, better relationships, better work situations but are allowing others to dictate how they feel or what they do.

Personal boundaries allow us to be the Unique Individuals that we are. They allow us to know our thoughts and feelings from the thoughts and feelings of others.Setting boundaries allows for Self Love, taking responsibility for who you are and most importantly - taking control of your life.

Here are 4 simple ways to Set Personal Boundaries: 
  1. Commit to your well being : Take responsibility for how you allow others to treat you. Commit to what is permitted and what is not when dealing with other. Be clear about what you will tolerate. 
  2. Choose your feelings over others : If you were brought up with the traditional thought that your feelings and needs are secondary to others, know that this is not true. When you do this constantly, you will be worn out mentality and physically. Only when you are full of love, can you give love and compassion to others. Remember this the next time you put others needs over yours. 
  3. Communicate your needs : Inform others about your boundaries, especially when they cross them. Ask for what you need from them, this will put them in the best position to provide it to you. Reward people who respect your boundaries and remove yourself from situations that don't.
  4. Trust your feelings : Only you can tell what you need. Trust your feelings to guide you. You are the supreme authority on what you want, need and value. Respect and love yourself. 

At first you might find it hard to see your true worth or to communicate your boundaries to others. Nourishing yourself first will allow for Love and Compassion to grow within you. Only when you have this inside you can you provide that to someone else. 

Boundaries are not aggressive but respect all parties involved. As you stand up for yourself you will be surprised on how the world starts to treat you. You will begin to manifest prosperity in all areas of your life. 

Having and respecting your boundaries is a powerful tool to feeling empowered.
