In an age where good social media presence is a key to business success, there is a rush to create a huge list of followers and subscribers.
Yes, I have read about the importance of building that number and how mathematically it converts into steady income for your product. This month I have had 20 odd people unsubscribe from my newsletter. I have to admit, when I first looked at my weekly campaign analysis, my reaction was to feel sad. 'Why? Why did they leave? Isn't what I to write about, provide value? Oh my! the total subscriber number is below 700!' Shouldn't the number be going up? Am I not supposed be good enough to keep the subscriber interested? Admittedly, it took me all of 4 days to have this every simple A-ha! moment. And this is how I re-wrote this whole experience (*Scripting is a technique LOA coaches use a lot) 'Yes I do want more people to subscribe. I do want to build my tribe and I do want to engage and add value to a growing number. I am refining my list and when people unsubscribe, it's a good thing for me. It only means that I can continue to write from my heart, to the people that share my values and beliefs. I don't need to pretend for the sake of the audience. And that's a tremendous weight off my shoulders' As simple as it is, hope this serves as a reminder for you too. The more you surround yourself with people that are with you by choice, the better it will be for you to be your authentic self. Take it a step further, look at your subscriptions on email, you tube, twitter or any other social media platform. Unsubscribe from the ones that don't serve you anymore. Its a whole lot of clutter that you don't need in your life. For an online business, an unsubscribe notice can be just as cool as a notice of subscription! Scripting is tool described by Esther Hicks in Ask and It is Given. I love using this one with clients.
